5 for Friday #2

Happy Friday! I am linking up with the DC Trifecta Friday Five for the first time today. If you do not know about these three ladies you should. I’ve linked up their blogs for you to visit.

This week the theme is Thankful.

You Signed Up For What?

  1. I am thankful for my family. They patiently put up with my crazy ideas about running 30k Around the Bay. Even when the Mister raises an eyebrow and says “Are you sure you want to do that?” I know he will support me 100% when I decide to take it on.
  2. Stories like this one this one make me thankful for the running community. I dare you to read it without needing a tissue to wipe your eyes.

When it was time to go to the cemetery, the funeral director had this idea. The cemetery was only a mile away, he said to us. Instead of vehicles following behind, would we want to honor Jim by running behind the hearse?

3.   I am thankful I am able to stay home. It’s not easy, there have been some budgeting lessons along the way but I am grateful I am able to be here when Little needs me. When I was working and I had to leave early for family emergencies I always felt guilty and would work late hours to make up for my lost time even when I didn’t need to.

4.   Great friends who support and encourage me even when my passion is not their passion. These fabulous women have offered to follow me Around the Bay and around the globe to Sydney, Australia in 2015. Start saving girls, let’s go see some kangaroo’s and throw a shrimp on the barbie!

5.   I’m thankful for our home on Amherst Island.

What are you thankful for?

What are your plans for the weekend? We’re heading to the mainland to book our first family winter vacation to someplace warm and sunny!

Meet Anita

I am a wife to a retired Army Captain and present day shepherd, a mother to two Big's (20 & 19) and one Little (6) and new to running at the age of 42. I am hopelessly addicted to Starbucks Peppermint Mocha's. My family thinks I am crazy. The voices in my head say they may be right.

    • Thanks Cori. I think we need to remind ourselves that being thankful isn’t dependent on a date marked on our calendars. :)

  4. I am thankful for my wife and our two teen boys. Nothing else matters so long as I have them :)

    • I honestly thought the change would be difficult but it hasn’t been, the Island helps.

Thank you for hosting the link up and for stopping by :)

  7. I love that you are planning on running 30k that is just inspiring and amazing!!!

I hope all goes well with booking the holiday!! It is meant to be warm and sunny here right now but it is raining, cold and windy.

Woohoo to you visiting Australia!! But you can’t just stick to Sydney you have to come to Melbourne too 😉 hehe

    • I’ve given myself until December 15th to sign up and I’m still trying to talk Mister into running it too.

Holiday booking is overwhelming! We came home with 4 catalogs and still don’t know where we want to go.

Of course I will detour to Melbourne! You should meet me in Sydney to run the marathon … we have 21 months to train 😉

  8. I am thankful for fellow bloggers like yourself and my better half, Glenn, who supports me in all of my misadventures.

    • The blogging community is fantastic and who couldn’t love someone who supports you in your misadventures 😉 Thanks for stopping by.

  9. Awww…Australia is on my bucket list of places to go. I hope when our son in a little bit older, we can cross it off our list. I have SO many things to be thankful for, but at this very moment, I am thankful that my mother is still in remission and I am getting to spend Thanksgiving with her in our new home in just a few days!
