Back to Where it Began

I am currently on the ferry headed to the mainland.

It was a bit of a last minute decision but I’m heading to my hometown to run a 5k race, the race that started me on this crazy running journey.

Last years 5k race bib. Finish time 42:47

The Krista Johnson Memorial Run is where I’ll be trying to hit the 30 minute or less target for 5k that I have been chasing (ha) for 11 months and the closest I have come to that magical (to me) number has been 32:09.

Two weeks ago I ran my first half marathon and it was INCREDIBLE. Mister ran his first marathon amd nailed a sub 3:50. Two days after that half marathon we moved into a new house, not the smartest thing we’ve done.  I may nail the magical 30, I may not but heading back to this race holds a special place in my heart and that my friends is what it’s all about.

Now that we are settled I am hoping to have a recap of both races for you soon.
I apologize for the scattered post, I’m using the WP app and it’s a bitch to edit. See you all on Monday.

Meet Anita

I am a wife to a retired Army Captain and present day shepherd, a mother to two Big's (20 & 19) and one Little (6) and new to running at the age of 42. I am hopelessly addicted to Starbucks Peppermint Mocha's. My family thinks I am crazy. The voices in my head say they may be right.

  1. Yay, so glad to see this post pop up!! Good luck on your race, and your husband is AMAZING! I am seriously jealous of his time, especially since it was his first marathon. Can’t wait to hear the full recaps!

    • My husband IS amazing, I can’t believe he pulled off a sub 3:50 marathon when his work schedule made it difficult to get much training in. I guess 25 years of forced running in the Army paid off. :)
