Elves Everywhere – MIMM #6

Welcome back to another Marvelous in My Monday hosted by the lovely Healthy Diva Eats.

Marvelous is – It’s DECEMBER!!! We have just 22 days until the Fat Guy in Red shows up and Henry the Elf has yet to make his appearance in our home but I have a feeling he will be here when we get home from gymnastic tonight.

Marvelous is – This link I followed into the Internet Rabbit Hole. This guy acted out what most of us would think about doing but would never actually do! I may not agree with his choice of words for some of the notes but reading through the Tweets had me Laughing Out Loud!

Marvelous is – Spending Saturday with Little just hanging out in our jammies. The weather was damp and miserable, Mister was off working on the farm for the day and there was no place we needed to be … perfect day for snuggling up under a blanket on the couch and watching Elf (again) for the afternoon.

Marvelous is – Christmas shopping Sunday afternoon. I popped into Atmosphere and dropped a few pennies. They were having a Black Friday sale for the weekend and I was able to save some $$$ on gifts for the family! Samantha was our fantabulous sales person and when I got home I just had to give here a Twitter ShoutOut.

Shortly after I sent out that Tweet I received this message …

Colour me IMPRESSED, a business that not only reads the Tweets sent out to them but REPLIES to them too. I Tweet to Starbucks all the time and have yet to hear anything from them. Well done Atmosphere, your staff are attentive, knowledgeable and so kind. I will be back soon!

Marvelous is – New kicks for running. The above mentioned Atmosphere had a BOGO sale going on for their footwear so I wandered over. I tried on a few minimalist shoes and settled on Merrell’s Barefoot. I took them for a 5k spin on the treadmill once I was at home and immediately noticed a difference. I’ll be writing a review on them after I have spent some time in them however I am enjoying them so far.

Marvelous is –Mister getting on the Barefoot bandwagon with a pair of Vibram Five Fingers. I tried a pair of these on as well but couldn’t get past the weird feeling they gave my toes. Mister on the otherhand spent all night walking around in them saying phrases like “Where have you been my whole life?” “I can’t believe I didn’t start wearing them sooner.” “They’re like a hug for my feet!”.

Marvelous is – Doubling my unique visitor stats to 1438 for the month of November. Thank you all for stopping by my little corner of the www! You made this gal Oh So Happy.

Tell me three Marvelous things you did this weekend.

Have you tried minimalist shoes? Thoughts … like them? … Hate them?

Meet Anita

I am a wife to a retired Army Captain and present day shepherd, a mother to two Big's (20 & 19) and one Little (6) and new to running at the age of 42. I am hopelessly addicted to Starbucks Peppermint Mocha's. My family thinks I am crazy. The voices in my head say they may be right.

  1. I love when companies tweet back. It definitely makes me want to tweet and blog about how much I love them!

    • I agree Ashley. If we take the time to recognize a company and they send a message back it says to me they really care about the feedback. :)

  2. Looking forward to your Merrell review. They are on my list of shoes to try.

    • They are comfortable, I’m taking them out for a 6k run today. I’d like to get a few 10k+ runs in with them to see how they feel on a longer distance.

  3. Love your new shoes they look great, I’ll be interested to hear your review.

Sounds like you had a very marvelous weekend indeed.

I agree I so love companies that reply back to you on twitter.

    • I am loving the shoes so far, we’ll see what happens when I start upping the mileage in them. It was a marvelous wet and grey weekend :)

  4. Strangest tweet – by far – was by a moose. I had tweeted about how I ran into a moose on the trail & he tweeted back at me. So funny! Anyway I like when the companies are that quick & responsive. Try tweeting a complaint to Telus (do you get Telus?) They are all over Twitter! They will call you within minutes!
Nice shoes!! So pretty! I have a few pairs of minimalist shoes but I can’t wear them for long distances (or over an hour) because my achilles start to whine! But I do love them even when my foot do not!

    • It must be difficult for a moose to send out a Tweet! Did you start following him on Twitter? 😀 We have Telus here in Ontario but only for mobile service (I had them for home phone when we lived in Edmonton). It’s great to hear they take their social media seriously. Fido Wireless does the same with Twitter and Bacefook, they’re all over it.

I’m curious to see how my feet knees and legs hold up with the Barefoot’s after 10k+. I seem to be striking heavier and did notice I sound like a moose tromping around when running on the treadmill with them. 😉
