My TV Boyfriend and MIMM #5

Welcome back to another Marvelous in My Monday hosted by the lovely Healthy Diva Eats.

Marvelous is – Peppermint Mocha and Snowman Shortbreads at Starbucks. I must confess I am not a fan of Starbucks every day (gasp! She said WHAT? I know, I know … please don’t hate me) but when the RedCup’s come out so does the Peppermint Mocha. My all time favorite warm drink and every year I look forward to tasting Christmas in my cup. Now we live in an area with a Starbucks I can get my Christmas fix when I head into town and not have to wait until I make a trip to Ottawa. Because they taste like Christmas that means they are low in calories … I have had 4 in the last 3 days.

Marvelous is – Spending my Saturday night snuggled up on the couch with Mister, enjoying some wine and finding out what my TV Boyfriend, Dexter, will be getting up to in this last season. I missed the entire season this summer when we were moving and successfully avoided ALL media about the finale hoping I could grab it through VOD. Saturday we spent our morning at Costco (where people make me stabby and I was not arrested for assault BONUS) and snapped up the final season. We’re two episodes in … I want to have a Dexter marathon but I’m not ready for the series to end so I will watch it slowly, savoring the next 10 episodes.

Marvelous is –  Stronger Than Yesterday from Bama-Ry came in the mail on Thursday. I first found Bama-Ry on Olive to Run when Cori was having a Give-Away. I did not win (cue sad trombone sounds) but had to have this necklace. I absolutely love Jasmine’s shop and may have monomania with everything she makes. You have to check her out.

Marvelous is – A Full English Breakfast for dinner. I spent my Friday afternoon at the gym with my trainer and had not taken anything out for dinner (stay-at-home wife fail). I could eat a Full English for supper every night of the week, takes me back to being a kid. No yolk porn here … move on people.

Marvelous is – My new Garmin. Found at Costco for $199.99, it includes a heartrate monitor and footpod for indoor running. At that price I could not pass it up. Merry Christmas to me! This is my second Garmin in less than 3 months. I may have a gadget problem but I am not looking for a 12 step program … yet.

Marvelous is – Blackberries as big as my head. OK, maybe that was an exaggeration but you have to admit these blackberries are HUGE-ORMOUS!

That, my friends, was my Marvelous Weekend. What three things did you do this weekend?

Are you a gadget geek? What do you have on your Santa list?

Meet Anita

I am a wife to a retired Army Captain and present day shepherd, a mother to two Big's (20 & 19) and one Little (6) and new to running at the age of 42. I am hopelessly addicted to Starbucks Peppermint Mocha's. My family thinks I am crazy. The voices in my head say they may be right.

  1. Ahhhh!! I am so glad you connected with Jasmine and got a necklace from her :) Isn’t her shop great!?
I just bought one for my step mom as well and she is in love.

    • Have you seen her mom’s handbag shop yet? The bags are beautiful and I may have added one or two to my Christmas wishlist!

  2. My wife likes the company Sporty Jewels, from Vancouver. She orders online, but they’re also at some of the Health & Fitness Expos we go to, including Ottawa Race Weekend. She has purchased a 42.2 necklace and ring there, among other things.

  3. I have a gadget problem too. I had a rough weekend so I spent it with a spouses group shopping and having harry potter movie marathons. 😉

    • I loved Harry Potter, it was the first chapter books I started reading to my Big’s when they were younger. I’m sorry you had a rough weekend, I hope the retail therapy helped :)

  4. I LOVE the peppermint mocha! I usually get the white chocolate peppermint one :) I also love that jewelry! I have a couple of necklaces that give me a little running inspiration, but I like that one because it’s more general. This weekend for me was pretty laid back. I put up my Christmas tree, ran a long run in the pouring rain (followed by a peppermint mocha!), and went grocery shopping for Thanksgiving. :)

    • Bama-ry has some amazing pieces, it’s hard to pick just one. Sounds like you had a very busy weekend! I tried the white chocolate mocha but it was a little too sweet for my taste.

  5. Do you have the Pecan latte at Starbucks? It is HEAVENLY. And dangerous all at the same time!

Love that necklace. What a great mantra.

  6. Love Starbucks holiday drinks! They’re all great, but I think my favorite is the Gingerbread Latte — so good! :)

    • Oh Gingerbread too … between that and the Pecan latte I may need to get a part time job just to afford my Starbucks habit! :)

  7. I love Starbucks Chai Tea with shot of express….what a marvelous Monday!

  8. Oh my gosh I’m so glad I’m not the only one with a TV boyfriend! Haha! When the hubby is not around, TV boyfriend is always there for me :)

  9. Great deal on the Garmin! I’ll have to tell Santa about it! 😉

  10. I do NOT have a gadget problem … I have loads of gadgets, no problem? :)

In terms of GPS stuff I have used pretty much only a single Garmin for the last year after switching from the Nike+ watch (and never looking back!). But I’m getting a Magellan Echo to check out – it is part of the new trend that seems to be starting of using the phone as a GPS and then customizing output from Bluetooth Smart LE communications. Hope it works well :)

    • Ha ha, love it! I was using my phone for a while but I have recently downgraded my data package so I try not to use it unless I have to. Look forward to hearing your review on the Echo.

  11. I love the necklace. I haven’t been able to get into wearing anything on my wrist when I run yet. I normally stick with my phone for tracking. I’ve got my eyes on a new gps watch that is slated to come out soon and hopefully it will be light enough for me to stand wearing it.

    • My first Garmin was a Woman’s Forerunner 10 and it was fairly small compared to others. This new one will take some getting use to but I find if I wear the face part turned in on my wrist it’s more comfortable.
